National Service Scheme (NSS)


The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It provides opportunity to the student youth of 11th & 12th Class of schools at +2 Board level and student youth of Technical Institution, Graduate & Post Graduate at colleges and University level of India to take part in various government led community service activities & programmes.The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands on experience to young students in delivering community service.

Details of NSS activities from 1st Jan 2019  to 31st Dec 2019

1. Campus Cleaning activity:

NSS unit of the college organised Cleanliness Drive within the College campus on 06/03/19. 75 numbers of volunteers were joined the Programme.

2. Blood Donation Camp:

The Unit organised a voluntary blood donation camp on the occasion of International Women’s Day and collected a large number of blood unit in association with District blood donation Forum in the month of 8th March, 2019.

3. Special Camp & Village Survey Programme:

NSS units of College had organised 5 days special camp as well as a village survey programmes from 14th March, 2019 to 18th March, 2019 at Mancota High School, Dibrugarh.  Camp was attended by 53 volunteers and 2 teachers. NSS volunteers conducted various activities such as quiz competition, dance programme, cleanliness programme and disease awareness programme. The purpose of the camp was to inculcate various values such as social, cultural, moral, educational and ethical.

4. Enrolment drive and Orientation Programme:

Enrolment drive was conducted in the month of August and enrolled 100 volunteers for the year 2019-2020. In order to orient the newcomers an orientation program was organised on 30th August, 2019.

5. Start up India Program:

NSS unit organised a start up India program at College to make awareness about Entrepreneurship among the students on 7th September, 2019.

6. NSS Day Celebration:

NSS was formally launched on 24th September, 1969, the birth centenary year of the Father of the Nation. Therefore, 24 September is celebrated every year as NSS Day. On the Occasion of NSS day, a talk was delivered by a resource person DR. H.K. Das, Deputy Director, RMRC (ICMR), N.E. Region, Dibrugarh on the topic entitled- “Early Detection and Prompt management of Pre-Cancerous lesions.. A win-win situation in Palliative Medicine”.

7. Cloth donating and Food distribution Program:

NSS volunteers of College was conducted a cloth and food donation program among the beggars of street in Dibrugarh town on the occasion of “Gandhi Jayanti” on 2nd October, 2019. 26 NSS volunteers along with 4 teachers from the college helped in the conduct of this program.

8. NVSP awareness Program:

Our College organised voting awareness program on 14th October, 2019 to aware the students of College and to impart the knowledge about importance of Voting. 39 NSS students along with two teachers participated in that program.

9. Awareness Activities on HIV/AIDS:

A street play was organised by Assam State AIDS Control Society on 31st October, 2019 at College Campus on awareness of HIV/AIDS among student so that youth of the colleges may be sensitised on HIV/AIDS in supported by NSS unit of the College

10. Observation of World AIDS day:

NSS unit of the College had observed WORLD AIDS DAY on 1st December, 2019 at College Premise in collaboration with SEWA, a voluntary NGO of Dibrugarh. This event was conducted to create awareness about HIV/AIDS its causes as well as to make people know as to how it can be prevented. Various programme was conducted related HIV/AIDS by NSS volunteers of the College and SEWA.
